A brief summary of LWAP process and status report and discussion of prospective conceptual designs.
10-10:30am: History and Heritage of Lake Bomoseen Yacht Club, Joshua Ferguson
Joshua traces the story of Vermont’s Lake Bomoseen through more than a century of sailing tradition. The presentation opens on the roots of the lake’s name, then situates Bomoseen within its watershed, a chain of rivers connecting to the Atlantic. From there it follows the lake’s maritime evolution: 19th-century skiffs and steamboats, the club’s founding in 1905 under first commodore Dr. J. R. McGuire, early well-attended summer regattas, and an enduring culture of environmental stewardship. The second half of the presentation centers on the club’s 30 year Lightning sailboat era, a modern revival led by Fleet 227, and the Maple Leaf Classic, closing with untold Lake Bomoseen stories yet to come.
